The Dusty Miller Memorial Invitational golf match was played at Stoke by Nayland Golf resort and spa on the 6th, 7th, 8th June. The weather over the three days of the competition was warm and sunny.  The competition was played using Stableford scoring format. The winner is the player with the most Stableford points, over the three days.

Twelve players competed for the “Dusty Miller Cup”  with prizes also being awarded to players for getting closest to the pin on the par 3 holes and longest drive holes.

The winner at the end of play on day 1 was Matt Barlow with 37points.Nearest the pins went to Joe Wall on hole 8 and hole 13.Longest drive went to Ross Bullivant on hole 7.

Day 2 saw Peter Ross take 1st place with 35 points. Nearest pin hole 7 went to Timber Wood. Nearest the pin hole 11 went to Bobby Guest. Longest drive went to Dennis Wilson

Winner on day three was Matt Barlow with a great score of 41 points. As we went into day 3 there was only 8 points difference between first four places. Nearest the pins on day three, holes 8 and 13 was Peter Ross. Longest drive went to Dennis Wilson.

Some great golf was played over the three days but Peter Ross played some exceptional golf and emerged as the overall winner, with 109 points. Well done Peter. Runner up was Matt Barlow with 108 points with third place going to Michael Guest with 101points.

All those who took part this year were treated well by the hotel and golf staff. The food was most enjoyable and a few “wets” with some golf banter was enjoyed by all in the evenings.

Following the prize giving, all those present agreed the match had been a great success and all unanimously agreed that we should return to Stoke by Nayland next year.
